What is Comfortably Home?
Comfortably Home is a program that helps elderly and disabled homeowners live independently and safely in their own homes. Our professionals make minor repairs and basic accessibility and safety improvements.
How much does it cost?
Nothing! These services are at no cost to qualified homeowners. The program is funded through MaineHousing's Community Aging in Place Grant.
What types of things does this program include?
What is the enrollment process?
Interested homeowners contact the Aging in Place Coordinator by phone for a brief intake assessment to determine eligibility. If the homeowners are eligible we then schedule a home assessment.
What is a home assessment?
The home assessment is a walk through of your home to discuss was accessibility, repair, or safety improvement you would like to see in your home. This typically takes about an hour. Following the assessment we draft a customized work plan for the homeowner to review and approve. Once approved we take car of the planning, scheduling, materials, installation, and labor. Six months following completion of the work we follow up to see how the work has made a difference in the household.

Augusta Housing has partnered with C&C Realty for repairs, safety checks, and modification work.

- Safety Checks: Smoke and CO Detectors, dryer vents, refrigerator coils, light bulbs, furnace filters.
- Accessibility Accommodations: Grab bars, handrails, shower wands, shower seat, raised toilet seat, drawer pulls, doorbell, lighting, kitchen faucet.
- Minor Repairs: Winterizing, flooring repairs, storm door installation, gutter work, steps, existing ramps, minor plumbing and electrical, custom work such as modifying cabinet height or adding a shelf.

- Applicants must be over 55 years old or have a disability
- You must own your home or live in a home owned by a family member
- You must reside within a 10 mile radius of Augusta or live in Lincoln County
- Applicants must meet the income guidelines (80% of the area median income)
